A hidden gem: Thai restaurant BanH-Hoï in Saint-Tropez

Only famous to the ones in the known, Ban-Hoï is one of the most demanded restaurants in Saint-Tropez. Culinary Vietnamese, Japanese and Thaï specialties on the menu and a charming location in the center of the old town seduce Saint-Tropez locals and visitors. When I walked in the cute street where is located the terrace of Banh-Hoï, I was instantly charmed by the pastel lights, red walls and golden Buddha which plunged me in an atmosphere that cannot be easily found in Saint-Tropez. Even though Saint-Tropez can be seen as bling bling, Ban-Hoï is very different from the fancy Saint-Tropez places in the sense that what you will eat is truly exquisite food.

Fan of Asian food, I started my dinner with a green mango and shrimps salad. It was fresh and very tasty, a very nice meal to begin with. My dining companion chose to go for a Thaï fish soup with lemongrass and coconut milk. He said it was delicious. We were ready to continue. I then ordered the Thaï steamed chicken with green curry and as a green curry lover, I can tell you it was absolutely fantastic. Writing about it still makes me salivate. My partner was savoring a tender duck filet which is one of the House specialties. He would not have doubt it. Why stopping to the main meals when we can continue with more delicious food? We then decided to try some desserts. We finished the dinner with a coconut milk mango sorbet and hazelnut chocolate nems, which were exquisite endings to this fine dining experience.

All dinner long, the service was perfect and the owners were easily approachable. I had the opportunity to discuss with them and I could really feel how happy they were to share with their guests their passion and traveling memories through their restaurant’s cuisine.

If you’re coming as a couple, you will find it very romantic but if you come with a group of friends, you will find it very cozy. Either way, you will be positively surprised. There is a reason why Vogue recommends Ban-Hoï as one of Saint-Tropez top addresses!

Only open in the evening, you should book it in advance if you want to visit Ban-Hoï (don’t miss it).
