The best spa in Marrakech: La Villa des Orangers

The ultimate well being oriental style

Morocco is one of those countries which has secrets, charm, is inaccessible and seems to always have its guests wanting to come back for more.  The vibrant city of Marrakech is not only lovely for its fabulous weather but also because it is bathed in a warm glow of a thousand spicy shades.

If you’re heading there for a weekend or more, you will certainly want to relax and enjoy a famous Moroccan massage. Here is a good news: I know the best one, it’s called La Villa des Orangers. Member of the Relais & Châteaux hotel chain, the Riad is located at the foot of the Koutoubia mosque, halfway between the Royal Palace and the Jemaâ El Fna square, an ideal starting point to start exploring the medina.

The sumptuous Villa des Orangers includes a boutique hotel of 27 rooms and suites, a gastronomic restaurant and a spa.

The NUXE Spa hosts its guests in exotic fragrances of rose petals, orange blossom and the famous Huile Prodigieuse, it has a majestic traditional hammam.

The magic begins the moment you step into the treatment rooms, illuminated by a mosaic of light flooding through the metal pattern of the ceiling pendant. Enhanced with touches of mahogany, the decor is understated but warm, discreetly showcasing the charm of traditional Moroccan craftwork.

Large mirrors reflect flickering candles, while freshly gathered rose petals are scattered over the massage beds and in the large sinks. The scene is set: with an emphasis on serenity and sensory pleasure.

What I prefer and what is a proof of exclusivity is that La Villa des Orangers spa will offer you the feeling that the spa has been privatized for you. You’ll be alone, or as a couple, in the spacious hammam, in the tea room and will never meet any other client. I love this.

From the spa menu, I usually chose the “Tradition and Modernity Escape” ritual. The ritual starts with a Hammam Tradition lasting 45 minutes. Immersed in this steam bath, your muscles relax and your skin prepares to receive the benefits of the treatments.  As is customary, this is followed by an exfoliation using black soap and a kessa glove. Your skin is then moisturized and purified with a rassoul wrap based on 7 plants. The next step is the Relaxing NUXE Massage®, a 45-minute experience designed to create a sensation of relaxation with soft and enveloping movements using Huile Prodigieuse®. The back – a key area for the accumulation of stress – is given special attention to eliminate all traces of tension from your body. Leaving your body feeling lighter, deeply relaxed and more serene. The price for 1h30 is 650 dhs/person (€60/one person) or 1,250 dhs/two people (€110/two people).

Indulging in Marrakech with a massage should be the start of every trip. Speaking with experience, I can only recommend La Villa des Orangers as the one and only place to go for a VERY GOOD MASSAGE AND AN AMAZING SERVICE. Time stops to only leave space to pampering and pleasure of the senses.

Check La Villa des Orangers special offers, I am sure you’ll find something which will suit your needs!
